It’s Make Your Bed Day and this is a holiday we have to celebrate at Interie! There are two types of people in the world - those who make their beds every morning, and those who don’t… Which one are you? If you’re someone who makes their bed every morning without fail, you’ll know the anxiety it causes you when your pillows aren’t plumped perfectly and the sheet is hanging loose. If you’re someone who doesn’t make their bed every day, here are some reasons why you should start getting into the habit!
Reasons To Make Your Bed
Making your bed can set the tone for the rest of the day. It’s something small that you can accomplish the moment you get up. It’s something you can tick off your to-do list right away and this will hopefully encourage you to do this with everything else on your list. It’s the little things in life that make a difference - and that includes making your bed!
If you’re someone who struggles to keep their room tidy, making your bed can help with this. When you get into this habit of making the bed neat and tidy, you’ll notice that the rest of your room needs a spring clean too. It can also help to lower your stress and help to improve your mood. We spend so much time in our bedrooms, especially in 2020 - so this room has a dramatic effect on your overall mood. Your bed doesn’t have to be perfectly made but it helps to bring about a feeling of self-care and care for your home.
It just looks so much better and feels good too! There’s nothing like going on holiday and climbing into a beautifully made bed after a long day of fun activities - so why not include this bit of joy in your everyday life? Climbing into an unmade bed at the end of a long day just doesn’t have the same effect...

Multi-functional furniture is becoming a big trend in 2020 and this bed is showing us why. A daybed is a fantastic option for a room that needs to be more than just a bedroom. This would be a great purchase for a child’s bedroom, a teen’s room or even for a guest bedroom. It can transition easily from a chill zone to a sleep zone. You also get the addition of storage underneath the ottoman mattress. You can slo add on a trundle drawer or a trundle pop-up bed frame to make this bed even better.
Let your little one’s imagination run wild with this fun Tipi bed design. It is designed to look like a tent frame and is made from beautiful pine wood. It sits low on the ground so it’s a safe but fun option for your toddler. This adorable bed is not only a place to sleep but a spot to dream as well. You can also order the perfect fitting mattress for this bed when you check out your Interie cart. Now that you’ve ordered your amazing bed from Interie, it’s time to make your bed look even more beautiful.
How To Make The Ultimate Bed
Start by ordering yourself a mattress protector. It might seem unnecessary since you’re going to put a sheet over the mattress anyway, but it can really extend the lifespan of your mattress. This is also very good for anyone who suffers from allergies. If you really want to make your bed super comfortable, you can always add a mattress topper. It’s a quick fix to a mattress that has seen better days or will make a good bed even better!
Once you get to the linen you’re going to use on your bed, it really is worth investing in good quality pieces. Cheap fabrics won’t get softer - no matter how much fabric softener you use or how many YouTube hack videos you watch. Good quality linen will last you longer as well - so even though it might seem expensive now, you won’t have to replace it as frequently.
What colour should you go for with your linen and bed sheets? White linen always looks amazing, but sometimes it isn’t the most practical of choices - especially if you have kids! If you are worried about the longevity of your white linen and still want that fresh look, go for a more neutral palette. Try out grey or cream instead. These don’t require as much care but still give you a blank canvas so you can have fun with pops of colour in your throw blankets and pillows.
How many scatter cushions is too many? Well, that’s completely up to you! When designing the pillow layout of your bed, start with the cushions you actually use. This could be a combination of continental pillows and normal size pillows that you will sleep on. For a double or queen size bed, start with two continental cushions propped upright at the back of the bed. In front of those, place two pillows on top of each other on each side of the bed. Now, the rest is up to you and your design! Throw cushions are a great way to change up a room as you can change them out as your style changes (without costing yourself an arm and a leg). A nice tip for throw cushions is to incorporate different textures and finishes. This creates a textured, layered and considered feeling to the bed. Finish off the bed with either a comforter or a throw blanket at the end. This is practical and decorative too.
You can now pull back the covers, hop in and have the sweetest dreams ever!
